Welcome to the Wonderful World of Disney Digital Books! Once you’ve downloaded your favorite Disney Digital Book mobile app, refer to this FAQ section for help on how to enjoy all the features of the app. You’ll find answers to some common questions, as well as simple tips for troubleshooting.
How do I find and install a Disney Digital Book mobile app?
iOS Users
Search for your favorite Disney Digital Book app in the App Store. Click on the app when it comes up, then click “Install.” The app will install to your device desktop.
Android Users
Search for your favorite Disney Digital Book app in the Android Market. Click on the app when it comes up, then click “Install.” You will get a message in your Notifications Bar when the app installation is complete.
Reading Modes
How do I turn on/off the automatic narration?
Tap the Mickey Ears menu icon at the bottom the screen to bring up the menu options. Click on “Read and Record,” then check the “Read to Me” box to toggle the feature on or off.
How do I turn on/off the Auto-turn Pages feature?
Tap the Mickey Ears menu icon at the bottom the screen to bring up the menu options. Click on “Read and Record,” then check the “Auto-turn Pages” box to toggle the feature on or off.
Using the Page Index
How do I jump to a specific page in the story?
Tap the Mickey Ears menu icon at the bottom of the screen to bring up the menu options. Click on “Pages,” then use your finger to scroll to the desired page. Click on the page again to jump directly to that part of the story.
Using Special Features
How do I record my voice?
Tap the Mickey Ears menu icon at the bottom of the screen to bring up the menu options. Click on “Read and Record,” then click on the red “Record my Voice” button and follow the instructions on screen. TIP: Don’t forget to click the red button again when you are finished recording.
How do I use replace the narration with my voice recording?
Tap the Mickey Ears menu icon at the bottom of the screen to bring up the menu options. Click on “Read and Record,” then check the “Use My Recording” box to replace the narration with your recording. You can uncheck the box later to return to the default narration.
How do I put puzzles together?
When you get to a puzzle page in the app, tap on the picture to activate the puzzle. Then tap and drag each piece to its right place on the puzzle board, and get ready for an animated surprise when you’ve completed the entire puzzle!
How do I explore all the animations in the app?
Don’t miss out on any animated sequences. Many pages in the story contain animations that need to be activated. Just look for small glowing areas on the screen, and tap lightly to activate the animation. You can see the animation as many times as you like, so have fun!
How do I use the finger-painting feature?
Tap the Mickey Ears menu icon at the bottom of the screen to bring up the menu options.
How do I find songs to sing along to?

How do I find all the items needed for the Matching Game at the end of the app?
(Winnie the Pooh Puzzle Book, Finding Nemo Puzzle Book, Mickey’s Spooky Night Puzzle Book, CARS Lightning Was Here Puzzle Book)
In order to complete the Matching Game at the end of some apps, you need to find all the items located throughout the story. Pay attention on each page to find the item, which may be trying to hide. If you haven’t found all the items by the time you get to the end of the story, don’t worry—just click on “Keep Looking” to go back and find the missing items.
How do I customize my racing car?
(Cars 2 Read + Race)
Tap the Mickey Ears menu icon at the bottom of the screen to bring up the menu options. Tap the “Race Car” option. Choose paint, front engine, spoiler and tires from the menu bar. Reset individual items by unchecking them. Reset your car entirely by tapping the reset button. *Please note: Race Car Customization feature is unlocked after reading the first chapter of the story.
How do I race my customized car?
(Cars 2 Read + Race)
Tap the Mickey Ears menu icon at the bottom of the screen to bring up the menu options. Tap the “Race” option. Tap to select your track, followed by your race car and lastly your difficulty level. Once the race begins, tilt your device to control your car. Tap the Nitro button for a boost of acceleration. *Please note: Race feature is unlocked after reading the entire story.
How do I change each Disney Princess’s outfit?
(Princess Dress-Up)
Tap the Mickey Ears menu icon at the bottom of the screen to bring up the menu options, then click “Pages.” Tap on the icon for the Princess you want to dress. Tap on the Hanger icon, then tap on the screenshot above it to navigate to the dress-up page. When the dress-up page opens, click on each desired item of clothing pr accessory (remember to scroll down for shoes and handbags), then drag it on to the Princess’s body. To remove an item of clothing or accessory, simply click and drag it off the screen. Remember, you can click on the Necklace icon at the top right of the screen to bring up jewelry options.
How do I upload my own photo in the app?
(Princess Dress-Up, Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue)
- Princess Dress-Up: Tap the Mickey Ears menu icon at the bottom of the screen to bring up the menu options, then click “Pages.” Tap on the Storybook icon next to Cinderella, then select the first page of the story (after the opening title). Click on the round Photo icon, then tap on “New Photo” to upload a picture from your mobile device. (You can sync photos and videos on to your mobile device using iTunes). Use your finger to drag your picture into place. Use your finger and thumb to resize and rotate the picture. When you’re done, you can click “Save” to save your new Princess photo, or share it with your friends!
- Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue: Tap the Mickey Ears menu icon at the bottom of the screen to bring up the menu options, then click “Pages.” Go to the final page of the story. Click on “Library” to choose a photo from your mobile device to upload. . (You can sync photos and videos on to your mobile device using iTunes). Use your finger to drag your picture into place. Use your finger and thumb to resize and rotate the picture. When you’re done, hit “Save,” and get ready to see yourself as a Disney Fairy!
How do I blow pixie dust on to the page?
(Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue)
When you get to a page that contains the Pixie Dust icon (a circle with a tree inside), blow into the microphone to help Tink and her friends. You can also tap on the Pixie Dust icon to see the pixie dust appear on screen.
How do I use the 3D feature?
(Toy Story 3 Read Along for iPad)
A few of the pages in the Toy Story Read Along app for iPad can be viewed in 3D! In order to experience them, you’ll need to wear 3D glasses, which you should be able to find at a local toy story near you!
Disney Comics
What is the DigiStore?
The DigiStore is your destination to search for and purchase additional Disney Comics. Search for your favorite comic, or browse the New, Top 25, or Featured sections to find something you like. Tap on a cover or thumbnail to read a description of each comic. Tap on the price to purchase the comics you like!
What is the DigiFree section?
Digifree is your source for free Disney Comics! It works just like the Digistore: tap on a cover or thumbnail to get more, or just tap on the “Free” button to download the story.
How do I get to my Comic Library?
In My Comics you will find your personal library of all the stories that you have purchased and downloaded. You can browse through them, and just tap on each cover to read your comics!
How do I switch between reading modes?
The Disney Comics app let you choose between two different reading experiences. You can switch between them simply by rotating your device.
Portrait mode: Read one page at a time, Swipe to turn the page, Use your fingers navigate and explore each page, Pinch to zoom in and out.
Landscape mode: Read a 2-page spread at a time, Tap the right side of the screen to advance, Tap the left side of the screen to go back, Read panel-by-panel and enjoy.
How do I use the Disney Comics Reading Menu?
When you open a comic book, you’ll be able to adjust the tools and settings in the reading menu at the bottom of the screen. You can hide or unhide the menu by tapping on the center of the screen.
Navigate through the pages of each comic book using the thumbnails at the bottom of the screen. (iPhone users: tap on the left button in the reading menu to bring up the thumbnails).
Toggle the Auto-play feature by tapping on the “Play” button. In portrait mode, the auto-play feature will turn the pages automatically. In landscape mode, the auto-play feature activates smart panel-by-panel reading. You can also manage the speed of auto-play in the reading menu.
The forward button will advance to the next page in portrait mode, or go to the next panel in landscape mode.
The rewind button will return to the previous page in portrait mode, or go to the previous panel in landscape mode.
The button on the right side of the reading menu opens up a menu that gives you the option to save an image to share it with your friends, via email or through Facebook.
The reading menu also allows you to activate/deactivate the sounds effects. Just tap the button to toggle.
How do I use the Disney Comics Information Menu?
When you open a comic book, you’ll find the Information Menu in the upper right section of your screen. Tap on the Information icon to access more information about each comic, including a brief summary, info about the author, artist, publication date, and more.
When you’re finished with the Information Menu, tap on the “Done” button in the upper left section of the screen to return to your comics.
Can I pause and restart comic downloads?
When you purchase a comic, the download will start automatically and you can check its status in My Comics.
The download will be automatically paused:
- If you close the application before the end of the download. When you start the application again, the download will restart automatically, once you have a connection.
- If you lose your connection before the end of the download. When your connection is reinstated, the download will be restart automatically, once the app is open.
You can also manually pause a download by tapping the cover of the comic being downloaded in the My Comics section. A pause symbol will appear on the cover. To restart the download, simply tap on the paused cover.
How do I track all my purchased comics?
In the “Purchase History” section, you will find all the comics you have purchased, including comics you have downloaded for free.
Tap on the “Restore Purchase” button to download a comic book you previously purchased.
Comics previously purchased through your account in the new Disney Comics app can be downloaded again for free on any iOS device (iPod, iPad, or iPod touch).
Comics previously purchased in Disney Digicomics 1.0 can be downloaded again for free on the same device on which you initially made the purchase.
Troubleshooting
I installed my app, but I cannot find it anywhere on my mobile device. What do I do?
Try searching for the app by title using the search feature on your mobile device. If you still can’t find the app , try re-starting the device by powering it down completely, then powering it back up again. You may also need to verify that your mobile device is running the most up-to-date software. If you are asked to pay to re-download an app that you have already paid for, please contact the appropriate customer support for your mobile device.
Help! My app is installed, but it won’t open!

You may also need to verify that your mobile device is running the most up-to-date software. I don’t get any sound when I open my app.
Try re-starting the app. If you still don’t get any sound, you may need to verify that your mobile device is not set to “Mute”. If you are using an iPad, there are two areas on your device to mute the device. Please check the following to ensure that you iPad is not muted.
• Check that your device's "Mute" toggle is off. The toggle is located on the right side of the iPad just above the volume rocker. If you see the color orange, that means it's muted.
• Double-click the Home button, which will bring up the multitasking bar. Then flick the multitasking bar from left to right until you see “play,” “forward,” and “rewind” icons. If the icon on the far left looks like a speaker with a line through it, that means the device is muted. Click the icon to unmute the device.
My app keeps crashing when I try to use it. What should I do?
Try re-starting the device by powering it down completely, then powering it back up again. You may need to verify that you have the most up-to-date release of the app. Check for updates in the iOS App Store or the Android Market. You may also need to verify that your mobile device is running the most up-to-date software. My app isn’t working. Is there a way to get a refund?
If you are unable to enjoy all the features of your app because of technical issues, you should contact the appropriate customer support for your mobile device. Be sure to refer to each device’s refund policies when you download the app.
